Publish Date: Monday, June 26, 2006

Ken Boyer, professor of Operations Management, and Morgan Swink, professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management, were selected as the new co-editors-in-chief of the Journal of Operations Management, or JOM. Their term begins July 1. Both Boyer and Swink served as associate editors to the publication and, in a joint effort, decided to apply for the position of editor-in-chief. There was an open search for the new editor by the Editorial Search committee, formed by a team of associate editors. The committee was impressed with Boyer and Swink’s proposal and their research record. In addition to Swink’s work with the JOM, he has published over 30 articles in various journals including the Journal of Product Innovation Management, Decision Sciences and European Journal of Operations Management. His research interests include innovation in the supply chain, product design-operations integration, product/process innovation, operations strategy, competitive priorities/capabilities and strategy formulation and implementation. Boyer’s research interests include operations strategy, technology management and e-commerce operations. Aside from working with the JOM, he is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Academy of Management, Production and Operations Management Society and the Decision Sciences Institute. He too has published more than 30 journal articles.
