Elvin Lashbrooke, professor emeritus of Finance and Law, will be recommended to the MSU Board of Trustees for the position of interim dean of the Broad School, effective July 1, 2008.

"I am excited by the qualities and experience that Elvin brings to the job and am pleased that he’s willing to serve the College in this capacity at this time," said MSU Provost Kim Wilcox. "I also would like to recognize outgoing Dean Bob Duncan for all that he has accomplished in these past six years."

Lashbrooke served as dean of the College of Business at UNLV from 1997 to 1999 and as associate dean of the Broad School from 1993 to 1997 and again from 1999 to 2001. He also served as director of Study Abroad and e-Learning Initiatives in MSU-CIBER after leaving the Dean’s Office. He is currently the director of the Summer Business Program at Magdalene College, University of Cambridge in England. He also received his PhD in Finance from MSU.

"It is both a privilege and honor to be chosen to lead the Broad College where I had been student, faculty and administrator for nearly two decades," Lashbrooke says. "People make a college and university great. I look forward to working with this great group of people – faculty, staff, students, university administrators and the alumni – during this period of transition."

In July 2007, the Eli and Edythe L. Broad Dean Robert Duncan announced he was stepping down as dean of the Broad School to return to the Management department as a faculty member. The search for a permanent dean will continue in the fall.
