Advanced International Business Institute for Community College Faculty

Building on two decades of success with the International Business Institute for Community College Faculty, MSU-CIBER has developed this advanced level institute for previous conference attendees who wish to continue developing their curriculum. The inaugural Advanced program was held in 2008, welcoming attendees from across the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada, discussing an array of topics related to classroom tools and course development, developing and maintaining International Business (IB) programs, and best practices in IB integration.

The Advanced International Business Institute (AIBI) for Community College Faculty is a unique faculty development program. It is designed for community college faculty who have previously attended international business faculty development workshops, seminars, or conferences, as well as faculty who bring previous international business experience to their classrooms, and international business program administrators.

Topics to be covered in the AIBI include: classroom tools and course development, developing and maintaining IB programs, and best practices in IB integration. The AIBI will also offer small group breakout sessions for faculty to tackle and resolve their own IB challenges and concerns.

Testimonials

I wanted to write to thank you again for the excellent program at the Advanced IBI. You both put great effort into, not only the planning, but also the execution, and it showed. The sessions were remarkable for their lack of overlap and yet they were complementary throughout. The breakout sessions were also well done. A number of us had quite a bit of time to kill Thursday afternoon at the Lansing Airport and we continued to talk about ideas generated by the conference. I know that a number of us will stay in touch and continue the interaction you began. I've let both the UT and Texas A&M CIBERS know how pleased I was with the opportunity they helped provide me. Jerry Mitchell - Austin Community College

Thanks again for developing the AIBI seminar! I firmly believe that if you evolve it into a "blue print seminar" to build and maintain community college IB programs, you will be sold out every time. I know I sound like a broken record, however, you have the only research that can become the "change agent" to get community colleges in the U.S. and other countries to develop and maintain an IB program. You guys could go on the road and become quite notable! Peter Shaw - Professor of Business & Economics, Tidewater Community College
