Bio

Dr. Elvin C. Lashbrooke is currently the interim Dean at Michigan State University’s Broad School of Business. Dr. Lashbrooke enjoys a distinguished and diversified education with a M.A., J.D. and an LL.M. from the University of Texas at Austin, a Ph.D. from Michigan State University, expertise in the countries of the European Union, fluency in Serbo-Croatian, working knowledge in Spanish, and a passion for promoting international activities.
After extensive travel working for the Department of Defense, Dr. Lashbrooke developed a strong interest in foreign languages and cultures. While pursuing his LL.M. from the University of Texas School of Law, he took a course in International Business which spurred a thesis on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and subsequent research and publications in the field of International Business.
At MSU, Dr. Lashbrooke is highly active in the realm of study abroad and various International Studies Programs. Since 1993 he has taken groups of students to Cambridge, England through the Cambridge Business Summer Program. Through such programs students have the opportunity to experience living, dining, and studying in another country.
Currently Dr. Lashbrooke is working ardently in pursuing his vision of MSU’s Broad School of Business becoming a truly global business school. Through global research centers, faculty and student exchanges, and other such agreements, Dr. Lashbrooke is busy collaborating and leveraging the University in order to secure Michigan State University’s physical presence on every continent where classes will be taught, research performed, and executive programs delivered.

8/08 Dr. Elvin C. Lashbrooke, Jr., Interim Dean. Dean Lashbrooke served as dean of the College of Business at University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), as associate dean of the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University, and as chair of the Department of General Business and Business Law in the Broad School. He also served as director of Study Abroad and e-Learning Initiatives in the International Business Center after leaving the dean’s office. He is the study abroad program director of the Summer Business Program at Magdalene College, University of Cambridge in England. Dean Lashbrooke earned his Ph.D. in Business (Finance) from Michigan State University.
