Bio

Dr. Ram Narasimhan is a University Distinguished Professor and the John H. McConnell Professor of Business Administration. He is part of the Department of Supply Chain Management at The Eli Broad College of Business. He is fluent in Tamil and speaks some German. Dr. Narasimhan has expertise in Scandinavia, particularly in Denmark. He has traveled extensively throughout other European countries, Asia, South America, New Zealand and Australia for the purposes of conducting research, serving as a visiting scholar at international universities and participating in academic conferences.
Dr. Narasimhan has held prominent positions in many international business-related organizations, including MSU-CIBER, the Pan-Pacific Conference, and MUCIA Executive Training Program in Operations Management. Additionally, he has directed several overseas study programs. As a result of his numerous international interactions, Dr. Narasimhan commands an increased knowledge of cultural differences, in terms of leadership styles, cultures, and the way companies implement strategic visions. He would like to see the Broad School expand its global interactions by pursuing more joint programs with leading global institutions.
Ram Narasimhan is a University Distinguished Professor and John H. McConnell Professor of Business in the Department of Supply Chain Management. He was formerly Chair of the Department of Management and Director of Research for the Center of International Busainess Education and Research (CIBER). Dr. Narasimhan has been active as a consultant to Fortune 100 firms including General Motors, Chrysler, Nortel, Agilent, The Budd company, Upjohn, Excello, Marshall Fields LEGO and others. He has been an executive trainer for over 250 firms on Project Management and Strategic Planning. He was appointed to the Management Improvement Program (MIP) Initiative by Michigan Governor James Blanchard. He has served as a consultant to Department of Management and Budget, Department Of State and the Department of Public Health. He has served as an expert witness in Washington, D.C. He is a Seior Editor of POMJ, an Associate Editor of JOM, an Associate Editor of Decision Sciences Journal and an Associate Editor of Industrial Management and Data Systems. Professor Narasimhan has co-authored three books and published over 130 articles in OM and SCM.
