Under the leadership of its 20th president, Dr. Lou Anna K. Simon, Michigan State University has made global awareness and engagement of our students, faculty, staff, and other constituencies an institutional priority. Just as MSU helped define the "land grant" university in the 19th and 20th centuries, we are now working to define what it means to be a "world grant" university in the 21st century. The Associate Dean for Global Initiatives, Professor Tomas Hult, highlighted that the Broad School's Global Initiatives are developed and implemented to support MSU's world-grant focus, to increase the international competitiveness of U.S. organizations, and to leverage the unique global brand of the Broad School.
